Transform Books into Power Tools
This is such a strange time to be alive. I'm writing this email to you while Claude is rebuilding the dashboard page on my site so its interconnected with my new Discord server (more on that in a minute). The site looks amazing, and I can't believe what I've been able to do with Discord...
That's not the point of this note, however! I wanted to tell you about a fun idea I had the other day while driving home from a friend's house. I was listening to the audio book of Think and Grow Rich (the free version) and the narration was horrid. No pop filter, dude needed to blow his nose badly... ick.
That's when I thought "I'm just going to ask Claude to give me the Cliff's Notes" (for my younger audience: Cliff's Notes were summary books you could buy to help "augment" your reading experience in high school). Since I bought the book, I figured it was OK...
I got home, fired up Claude, and as I was writing the prompt something fun occurred to me, so I adjusted course:
I really like Napolean Hill's Think and Grow Rich and I want to put his work into practice. Create a set of skills that will drive his practices forward, and use this directory to keep me on track and do all the necessaries required by his process.
If you didn't know, the book is a practical exercise in the mental exercises required for wealth. People swear by it, so I figured "why not create a 'Wealth OS'"?
Seriously? Yet Another AI Operating System
I know I know - every AI grifter snake oil YouTuber is pushing these things. I hope I don't sound like I'm telling you how to get rich! I'm not - I'm offering you something that I think is genuinely interesting and fun, but most of all: I'm offering a fun idea that you can put into play for yourself.
There are so many books, processes, workshops, and other chunks of knowledge out there that you can use to turn into "machines" (I refuse to use the term "operating system"). Atomic Habits comes to mind, and also my very own The Imposter's Handbook, which yes, I'll be converting when I have a moment.
Like Tiago Forte's Building a Second Brain? Throw Claude at it and have it build you a fun machine that actually helps you with the process!
This is what I find to be the most fun when using AI: it can help you execute. A book... that executes. Rather than read about an idea and hope you can put it into practice, have Claude help you do that through task creation, calendar blocking, and conversation.
About the Discord Thing...
I feel like I'm on Discord constantly, which I love if I'm honest. It's become my go-to social hangout because I have friends on a few servers, and interests on others. The only reason I didn't use it for my community offer is because I didn't know what it could do!
I ran my first cohort with it because Claude suggested it, and it went off perfectly. The Stage channel was exactly what I needed and yeah, I know people have their issues with Discord being "wonky" but at the same time - the first cohort folks are still there chatting.
Given my issues with Circle over the last month (deceptive billing, weird service changes coming in, errors everywhere, every day, fiddly settings that end up making you fail, etc) I decided to just go with Discord fully.
